Security cameras not an issue for Corporate Cabs

Premium New Zealand taxi operator Corporate Cabs says that calls to address what some are referring to as ‘systemic flaws in the entire security camera compliance regime’ will not improve safety for its drivers and passengers - because it is already top notch.

Chief executive Colin Samson says its most recent fleet inspection, which included a camera test and was carried out in conjunction with the camera supplier and Corporate Cabs operations staff, found that all cameras in cabs in its Auckland fleet are working perfectly.

“We spent hundreds of thousands of dollars installing cameras in all of our cabs for the safety of our drivers and passengers. We supported the introduction of cameras even though it wasn’t such an issue for us as most of our pick-ups are pre-booked, but we’re glad we chose to use state-of-the-art equipment,” he says.

“To find not one camera that isn’t working properly in our fleet is a great result. We expect that with such a robust camera system the results from the audit of the rest of the Corporate Cabs fleet across the country in the coming months will be just as good.”

In total Corporate Cabs have about 400 owner-drivers under franchise-style arrangements in five main centres – Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown.

“We are very proud of the level of service we offer in terms of safety, comfort and satisfaction, and have always gone beyond what is required for our customers and drivers,” says Mr Samson.
