Punters Tip Royal Baby to Have Family Name

Punter interest in the name of the royal baby has shown no signs of slowing down now that the world has had its first glimpse of the future king, with the number of bets with online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au quadrupling since the birth.

Over $50,000 has been bet on the market to date, with approximately 30 bets coming in every hour.

And while George is still the $2.80 favourite, James has actually received more bets than any other name and is second favourite at $5.00.

Alexander ($10), Louis ($11) and Arthur ($13) have also been well backed, while Spencer has been one of the biggest movers, in from $21 to $13.

“With Spencer being Princess Diana’s maiden name, James the name of Kate’s brother and George being Will’s great grandfather, punters are certainly tipping that it will be a family name,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Shaun Anderson.

Several new names have been added to the market including Joffrey ($501), Elvis ($501) and Charming ($501).
