New man pilots aircraft engineers

New man pilots aircraft engineers

Early August saw Dave Evans at the controls of the Aircraft Engineering Association of New Zealand (AEANZ) Committee.

With Avgas in his blood, Dave spent many years with the RNZAF before joining ServiceIQ as Aviation Sector Manager, where his twin passions of aviation and helping young people into rewarding engineering careers combine.

“It was a thrill and honour to be elected AEANZ Chair at the Aircraft Industry Association AGM and to me demonstrates the value aviation places on properly skilled people, as well as the level of respect that Service IQ has from general and commercial aviation, and the military.”

The Aircraft Engineering Association of New Zealand plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and viability of aviation in New Zealand.

“AEANZ is one of the key associations in the industry,” notes Dave. “All the main players are actively involved and the work we do directly impacts on the lives of New Zealanders. We input into effective regulation and policy, ensure engineering training enhance air safety, are involved with the New Zealand AIRCARE Accreditation Programme, and encourage the development of internationally competitive frameworks in New Zealand while preserving the safety culture.”

ServiceIQ CEO Dean Minchington says his industry training organisation is happy to assist the sectors it’s involved in.

“We know that someone with Dave’s experience can add great value to the aviation sector so we’re delighted to be able to support him in his work with AEANZ. As Chair, his role is vital to the sector and its success. We’re well aware that industry training organisations and the industries they serve must work closely together to benefit all involved, especially the hard-working individuals striving to gain national industry qualifications, and the businesses that are supporting them in their training.”

Dave Evans says he appreciates the support he’s received. “People from all parts of the aviation engineering sector and further afield have been fantastic, as has the team at ServiceIQ. While I do understand the nuts and bolts of engineering and how the sector works, and how vital it is to have a skilled workforce, I also know that this role is collaborative. It’s the entire AEANZ Committee and organisation that do the hard yards. It’s a privilege to have this chance to serve aviation in New Zealand.”

ServiceIQ is New Zealand’s Industry Training Organisation for everyone working in the aviation; tourism; travel; museums; cafés, bars, and restaurants; accommodation; food services; quick service restaurants; clubs; and the retail and wholesale sectors.
