Kiwis Continue Love Affair with Cruising

Kiwis love affair with cruising shows no signs of slowing down with Cruiseabout, New Zealand’s dedicated cruise retailer, reporting a booking increase of over 175 percent in July 2013, compared to the same month of the previous year.

Cruiseabout brand leader, Jessica Allan, says that the continuing demand for cruise holidays is due to consumer confidence, affordability and the increasing variety of cruise holidays that are available.

Cruiseabout will be holding a dedicated Cruise Expo in Auckland on Sunday, 01 September and is picking cruises to the United States to be particularly popular with Kiwi travellers.

“The demand for cruising continues to grow year-on-year and we are consistently seeing an increase in travellers combining a cruise into their holiday. Current hot destinations include the United States, the Greek Islands and the Adriatic coast line in Europe,” Ms Allan said.

“Demand is high right now for cruises either to, or departing from the United States, with routes such as San Francisco or Los Angeles, to Auckland, proving to be particularly popular. With the increased airline competition, not only are Kiwis travelling to the United States more, they’re also combining a cruise into their holiday. It’s the perfect way to kick back and relax before your holiday is over.

“We are expecting these destinations to be very popular at the Cruise Expo where there will be over 70 cruise lines represented on the day, with a mixture of family, ocean, river and luxury cruises. It’s the perfect place to talk to the cruise specialists and grab exclusive deals on the day.”

The Cruise Expo will be held at the Auckland Cruise Terminal, Shed 10, Queens Wharf on 01 September 2013 and will include exclusive cruise and airfare specials for some of the best cruise holiday options in 2013 and 2014.
