Christchurch accounting firm look to recruit graduates
Media Release - 16/09/13
Christchurch accounting firm HFK Limited are looking to recruit accounting graduates in the new year. Each year the long-standing Canterbury firm takes on recently graduated commerce students, many of whom have studied at Canterbury University.
HFK director and partner in charge of Human Resources Jane Jackman says the firm has been extremely fortunate in the past to have secured many high calibre graduates and believes HFK is a great place for young accountants to start their careers.
“It’s a really important step for new graduates, moving from university into the real world of accounting and we hope to make that transition as smooth as possible” says Jane Jackman.
HFK offers newly qualified accountants a unique induction and training process where graduates are buddied with a more experienced team member. The first part of the training process involves the new graduate working through a complete job with a senior staff member from start to finish.
HFK Limited also offers full support to new accountants as they work through the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants’ qualification process.
One of those working through Professional Accounting School/Professional Competence Examinations (PAS/PCE) is Bianca Ryan who started with HFK three years ago and is thriving at the firm.
Bianca, a Christchurch, Marian College girl, received a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from Canterbury University, and really loves the team environment at HFK.
“All of the staff, partners included, have an open door policy and we never feel embarrassed to ask silly questions. Also having an open plan office means there are lots of people around to help you work through any problems you may have. The regular training opportunities mean you are constantly learning and growing your knowledge base” says Bianca.
Bianca is also really excited about the company’s connections with the Australasian network of Hall Chadwick Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors, as well as other international connections.
“The network means that once I’ve finished my qualifications there are a whole lot more opportunities within the firm, to be seconded and to travel. We also enjoy visits from representatives from our international networks” says Bianca.
HFK Limited is looking to take on bright and enthusiastic new graduates later this month, with the successful candidates starting in the new year.
