Christchurch Skincare Brand Extends Hand Warming Support to Kiwis with Arthritis
Christchurch based skincare company, Skin Technology is lending support to Kiwis with arthritis by providing its award-winning hand and toe warmers at a subsidised price. Five cents from each warmer sold will also go to Arthritis New Zealand to support the work the not-for-profit does for individuals with the condition.
Skin Technology recently became the sole New Zealand distributor for The Heat Company hand and toe warmers, a leading European company that is the official supplier of the German National Ski Association (DSV), the Ski Team Austria and the Swiss National Ski Pool. The warmers are also widely sought after globally by the military, hunters and fishers, people that work outside and those dealing with bad circulation or stiff joints.
“It has long been recognised by health professionals that heat, while not a cure, can hugely reduce the amount of pain and discomfort that arthritis causes,” explains James Fraher, Skin Technology Managing Director. “When we confirmed the relationship with The Heat Company, it made sense to extend an offer of assistance to Arthritis New Zealand. In this country, warmers are regularly used by snowboarders, skiers and other people taking part in outdoor sports, but far fewer people realise how beneficial they can be for certain health issues, such as Raynaud’s Syndrome and arthritis. We’re hoping to change that.”
The hand and toe warmers are environmentally friendly, made from natural ingredients and biodegradable. They are air activated, keeping the hands and toes warm for up to 12 hours.
The hand warmer support comes just in time for the annual Arthritis New Zealand Appeal Week, which will run this year from 24-30 September.
The warmers will be listed on the Arthritis New Zealand website at www.arthritis.org.nz. For more information on Skin Technology and the hand and toe warmers, including where to purchase them, visit www.skintechnology.co.nz.
