World First ‘Precision Seafood Harvesting’ to be unveiled at the 2013 NZ Seafood Industry Conference

It is less than a week to go until the 2013 NZ Seafood Industry Conference, where, in a world first for the fishing industry, the first underwater pictures of the New Zealand developed 'Precision Seafood Harvesting'  technology will be shown to reveal the revolutionary new fishing method

Precision Seafood Harvesting will be unveiled by Seafood New Zealand chairman Eric Barratt.

This transformational harvesting technology, developed by Sanford, Sealord and Aotearoa Fisheries Ltd, promises to have a profound impact on the way fish is caught.

Another milestone event to feature at the 2013 Conference will be the launch of Seafood New Zealand’s Healthy Fish campaign.

There’s also a line-up of engaging and inspiring experts on matter across the seafood industry, including:

• ·         Jim Cannon, CEO, Sustainable Fisheries Partnership on “sustainable seafood” as a market proposition, its place in the purchasing decisions of branded food and food service companies and why it matters to them.

•          Richard Lott, Managing Director, Southern Spars on their design innovation being used by America's Cup teams, including Team New Zealand, and how it catapulted the company onto the world stage.

•          Dale Williams, Mayor of Otorohanga, on how his town has achieved 0% youth unemployment and what their approach can teach other places and industries about inspiring young people about employment

•          Dr Susan Marshall, Science Group Leader: Processing & Marine Products, Plant & Food Research on opportunities to commercialise traditional seafood industry by-products
