Chch City Holdings Announce New Directors

CHRISTCHURCH CITY HOLDINGS ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF NEW DIRECTORS TO CITY CARE LTD, ORION NZ LTD AND RED BUS LTD

The Chair of Christchurch City Holdings Limited (CCHL), Bruce Irvine, announced today that CCHL has completed this year’s round of director appointments to its subsidiary    companies with the Council approving the CCHL recommendations to fill vacancies on the boards of City Care, Orion and Red Bus Ltd. 

Jim Boult outgoing CEO of Christchurch International Airport has been appointed to the board of City Care; Paul Kiesanowski, retiring Partner at KPMG has been appointed to the board of Red Bus and Jeremy Smith, Managing Director Holcim NZ has been appointed to the board of Orion.

“We follow a robust process to seek out the best candidates. I am confident these appointments have the management and governance experience we need. They have the ability to think strategically along with a strong knowledge and understanding of governance principles and practice,” says Bruce Irvine, chair CCHL.

“Every board needs a good mix of skills. The CCHL group continues to be successful and meet their governance responsibilities due to the quality and experience around each board table,” said Mr Irvine.

The appointments fill vacancies which have arisen through the retirements of Ross McRobie from Red Bus, Trevor Thornton from the board of City Care and Michael Andrews from Orion.

The three appointments are effective from the company Annual General Meeting dates - Orion (14 August), Red Bus Ltd (23 October) and City Care (25 October).

Bio Jim Boult:

Jim is the CEO of Christchurch International Airport (CIAL) and originally served on the CIAL board as a Crown appointee.  He has had several other governance and management roles in multiple business sectors. He was the Deputy Chair of Tourism NZ from 1997 to 2000, and Chairman of Baycorp from 1989 to 1998.  Jim serves on several not for profit and community boards including as a director of the Child Cancer Foundation.

Bio Paul Kiesanowski: BCom

Paul is a partner at KPMG in Christchurch and will retire at the end of this year. He has a BCom from the University of Canterbury, is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of NZ and is a member of the Institute of Directors.  He is a member of the National Board of NZ Red Cross and is Chair of their Audit & Risk Committee and a Trustee of the Red Cross Foundation which manages the investments of Red Cross in New Zealand.

Bio Jeremy Smith BSc, BCom LLB

Jeremy Smith is the managing director of Holcim (New Zealand) Ltd, a position he has held since 2007, which includes several directorships on joint venture boards.  Prior to that he held other senior management positions with Holcim (since 2000) and Eskimo Logistics Group.  He has a triple degree with a BSC (Mining), BCom and LLB. He started his career as a commercial lawyer working for Anthony Harper from 1994 to 1996.
