Alister Lawrence New ANZBC Chairman
Media Release 21 October 2013
Alister Lawrence New ANZBC Chairman

Alister Lawrence has just been elected Chairman of the ASEAN NZ Business Council, replacing Stuart Walbridge, who retired at this year’s AGM after six years in the Chair.
Lawrence was until recently Group CEO of NZPM and has now set up his own business, Miro Partners. He has had widespread senior management and governance experience, including chairing Patton Limited and Construction Marketing Services until this year. He has just been appointed to the Board of NZPM.
He has had extensive experience in many Asian markets and lived and worked in Thailand for four years.
“ASEAN is certainly a vibrant part of the world full of business opportunities for NZ companies across many sectors.” said Lawrence. “It has rightly been identified as a key target market and just last year became our biggest trading region.”
“What attracted me to the Council, besides my passion for the ASEAN region, was its high level of activity and the way it embraces both New Zealanders doing business there and ethnic ASEAN residents here who provide networks and expertise in the markets”, he continued.
“We’re well connected with Government representatives of both New Zealand and the ASEAN countries, so we can act with mutual respect as the voice of business in ASEAN and our regular Trade Missions to ASEAN markets have been highly successful in opening doors for our members. I look forward to assisting the Council to grow further and move forward with confidence.”
ANZBC is the only business association with a sole focus on the 10 ASEAN markets. Its membership is open to any business or individual with an interest in any of the ASEAN countries and it actively promotes and facilitates trade and investment with the region.
