Knauf Plasterboard to Lift Competition in New Zealand Construction Industry

Knauf Plasterboard has opened its doors for business to New Zealand’s lightweight construction industry with the official opening at its distribution centre in Christchurch today, by Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Minister, Gerry Brownlee.

“The entry of Knauf Plasterboard validates the New Zealand government’s support of a healthy, competitive market for construction materials which ensures that consumers have a sustainable choice,” Mr Brownlee said.

“As part of the Knauf Group, one of the world’s largest global manufacturers of plasterboard, wall and ceiling products and systems, Knauf Plasterboard is a competitive supplier to be reckoned with having significant scale and resource to enter a dominated market,” said Mark Norris, Managing Director, Knauf Plasterboard, Australia & New Zealand.

“An impressive worldwide operation, with two manufacturing facilities on Australia’s eastern seaboard and superior technical expertise puts Knauf Plasterboard in a strong position to service the growing needs of New Zealand’s housing and commercial market,” said Norris.

The distribution centres in Christchurch and Auckland consist of a 5000m2 warehouse, showroom and offices and will supply a high quality range of innovative products and systems designed to provide solutions for fire, water, impact, acoustic and decorative applications for all construction projects – commercial and residential.
