RHL welcomes Commissioner’s Report on Fiordland Monorail
Riverstone Holdings Ltd has welcomed the release today of the Commissioner’s Report on the Fiordland monorail proposal.
“The monorail route has been developed in consultation with the Department of Conservation over eight years and we agree with the Commissioner that it meets the required legal tests and is able to be granted with conditions that carefully manage its impact,” says Managing Director Bob Robertson.
The Commissioner’s overall view is that concerns raised in submissions could be addressed through amendments to the concession conditions to provide greater certainty. RHL agrees with this approach and has proposed amended conditions to reflect this.
“We believe passionately in this project and have worked incredibly hard to develop a proposal that would deliver a world-class experience with only minor environmental impacts,” says Mr Robertson.
“We recognise that the final decision rests with the Minister. We believe we have put forward the strongest case possible and will now wait on his decision. We have no further comment to make at this stage.”
