Australasian Housing Awards
New Zealand tied with New South Wales at the Professional Housing Awards of the Australasian Housing Institute – with equal top placing in three out of eight categories judged for the awards event held in Adelaide on Wednesday night.
Wellington City Council’s City Housing took out the Excellence in Social Housing Award while Housing New Zealand collected two top awards: the Leading Innovation Award for its Driveway Safety Project and the Leading Asset Management Award for its Making Buildings Safer in Earthquakes Project .
In addition Wellington City Council’s Central Park Upgrade Project was highly commended.
Housing NSW took the award for Inspirational Colleague, Pacific Link won the award for Leading Tenants Engagement Practice, and a tenant with St George Community Housing shared the individual award for a Tenant-Led Initiative.

award went to Common Ground, South Australia, and a tenant
from Housing SA shared the Tenant-Led Initiative award. John
McInerney of Victoria’s Common Equity Housing won the
award for Outstanding Achievement – presented by South
Australia’s Minister for Social Housing Hon. Tony Piccolo
- and Queensland’s Brisbane Housing Company (BHC) shared
the award for Leading Asset
