Craft of Beer Workshops - November Subsidy

Craft of Beer Workshops - November Subsidy

What a great first year for the Brewers Guild Certificate in the Craft of Beer!! This Certificate is fast becoming the industry standard for knowledge about the craft of beer in New Zealand, with well over 100 people up-skilling their beer knowledge so far, including many of the staff at nationwide liquor chain franchises, and also a number from small bars specialising in craft beers, doing justice to the range and variety of beers they have.

There have been workshops in Auckland, Rotorua, Wellington, Nelson, Christchurch, Dunedin and Central Otago, and a bonus one during Choice Beer Week in August, where one of the candidates, Nigel Sanderson from the Waihi Beach Tavern, said “...this course is perfect for anyone selling beer, the knowledge and potential conversations... it's invaluable”. This was just one of the many positive comments we’ve received so far, and many people are going away with a real understanding of beer, including styles, service, history and beer/food matching, all encapsulated in a formally recognised, NZQA accredited Certificate (11 Credits for the 3 Unit Standards).

The workshop includes a brief history of beer in NZ, an introduction and taste test of 5 beer styles, lunch, a brewery visit, and a research project to complete. The workshop is concise but in-depth, and a great platform on which to build further knowledge of beer, all delivered by our own educators, which includes a top internationally-renowned beer judge and writer, Geoff Griggs.

In addition to a recent price reduction from $345 to $299, to make the workshop more accessible, the Brewers Guild has also made available a special subsidy for the November Workshop Series, offering a fantastic saving of $115 on top. This one-off deal of $160 + gst ($184 inc) is available at 6 locations all across NZ, with a maximum of 10 subsided places per location.

There will be more workshops in 2014, so keep an eye on the Brewers Guild web-site. You can also register your interest there, and we’ll let you know when there’s one going to be in your area, or we can put on a special one for your group of 10 or more.
