After two years of operation, AA Smartfuel is delivering AA Members nearly 10 times more value than its predecessor.
The fuel discount scheme, which is free to all motorists, celebrates its second birthday today. It replaced the member-only AA Rewards scheme in November 2011.
AA General Manager Membership and Brand Dougal Swift says in the last 12 months, AA Smartfuel has enabled AA Members to earn $36.5 million in fuel discounts.
This is about 10 times more value than the final year of the AA Rewards scheme which offered rewards points worth $3.8 million.
AA Smartfuel also has a further 760,000 AA Smartfuel cardholders who, together with AA Members, have earned nearly $100 million in fuel savings over the last two years.
“Since AA Smartfuel was introduced our club has seen record growth with more than a 10% increase in membership joins with a record 110,000 New Zealanders joining the AA last year.”
Launched to help more Kiwi motorists save on fuel, Mr Swift says many AA members are earning fuel discounts that exceed the annual cost of AA membership.
