Dunedin Local Announced As 2013’s Young Retailer of the Year
Last Night, NZ’s longest running trade publication Wares Magazine, who celebrates its 21st year in publication held its annual Wares Awards; celebrating the everyday heroes in the appliance industry.
Dunedin local; Chris Templeton - a member of Noel Leeming Dunedin was awarded as the Young Retailer Of The Year.
As Store Manager since 2008, 31 year-old Chris is not only in charge of the brand’s fourth largest store (by turnover) but is also responsible for the lower South Island’s distribution hub as well as a technical solutions service covering Invercargill to Timaru! His top achievement in the last year has been becoming Fisher & Paykel’s single largest retail partner by value and by volume - this has been achieved by not only stocking the iconic Kiwi brand’s range in-depth but also creating a culture where the 35+ staff really believe in the brand and are proud to sell it!
His exceptional service and outstanding leadership skills have secured him the top prize; a travel grant to visit an international trade show and a study grant for an Auckland University Business School’s Short Course programme of their choice.

Other big winners on the night were Electrolux Small Appliances winning best floor care, and Panasonic winning both best home entertainment and digital imaging categories.
