Kiwibank Bank Class Action Deadline Today

Today is the last day Kiwibank customers can sign up to the Fair Play on Fees campaign before formal documents are lodged with the High Court on Friday.

Lawyers representing the Fair Play on Fees campaign say Kiwibank customers have till Thursday 11pm to register to ensure they are included in the case.

Fair Play on Fees lawyer Andrew Hooker said while the court may allow an extension for Kiwibank customers, the best chance to ensure inclusion in the case was to register by today. In the case, Fair Play on Fees will be seeking to recoup money unfairly charged by the bank as default fees.

“We encourage all Kiwibank customers who wish to be part of this collective action to join today. We have continued to be heartened by the latest number of registrations. The feedback we have been receiving from the public has been hugely positive. It’s the type of support we will need to continue to battle the banks on unfairly charged default fees.”

Hooker says more than 1,000 additional customers had registered on its website since the case against Kiwibank was announced, taking the total number of registrations at fairplayonfees.co.nz to 37,000.
Announcements about cases against other major banks will be made over the next few months.

New Zealanders can join the action against unfair bank fees by registering at www.fairplayonfees.co.nz.
