It’s question time at McDonald’s

It’s question time at McDonald’s

Does McDonald’s use pig fat in its thickshakes? Does McDonald’s wash its meat in Ammonium Hydroxide? What about pink slime?

McDonald’s New Zealand is lifting the lid on the Golden Arches, allowing Kiwis to ask any question they have about the menu through a new initiative Our Food, Your Questions, which launches today.

Whether it’s about the use of pink slime or if the beef in their favourite patty has been washed in Ammonium Hydroxide, all questions about McDonald’s food will be answered.

McDonald’s New Zealand Managing Director, Patrick Wilson, says many New Zealanders have questions about their food. “We know people want to know more than ever before about the food they eat and that they demand more from brands like McDonald’s. Our Facebook page is a good litmus test for the types of things people want to know. We’ve gone one step further and created a way for Kiwis to have a direct, open and transparent conversation with us.

“With Our Food, Your Questions, we’re also hoping to debunk a few myths and preconceptions. We pick that many New Zealanders will be pleasantly surprised about where we source our produce and what goes on in the kitchens of their favourite restaurant.

“For most people, the only interaction they have had with us has most likely been from the other side of the counter in the restaurant, so we are thrilled to give New Zealanders the chance to personally explore McDonald’s on an entirely new level.

Our Food, Your Questions provides New Zealanders with a constant and long-term forum to ask their questions, and get accurate and complete answers. This project signals our commitment to having direct conversations, which we know is extremely important,” says Mr Wilson.

Every food question that is asked via the Our Food, Your Questions website will be analysed, researched and responded to using a combination of written answers, images, infographics and videos. The purpose built website will give people the chance to not only ask questions, but ‘follow’ topics which interest them.
