Two Men And A Truck wins two Better Business Awards

Two Men And A Truck wins two Better Business Awards for Sustainable Transport and Staff Support

05 December, 2013

All the staff at Two Men And A Truck are thrilled to announce our recent success at the Better Business Awards, presented at Luna Park last month.

Two Men And A Truck won the Better Business Sustainable Transport Award and the Better Business Staff Support Award - both the categories in which we were nominated.

The Better Business Sustainable Transport Award recognises the business that has made the most significant effort in reducing the impact of their transportation needs.

Specifically, Two Men And A Truck upgraded our fleet of 30 trucks and vans with fuel-efficient vehicles. We track our fuel usage and often make an active effort to combine loads to reduce the number of heavy vehicles on the road.

The Better Business Staff Support Award recognises the business that best demonstrates support of their staff, including training and development, flexible hours and a culture of inclusiveness and tolerance.

Specifically, Two Men And A Truck encourages staff participation and input into the development of the business, provides many training and development opportunities, and takes an ethical approach in business operations with the help of the St James Ethics Centre.

Founder and brand ambassador for Two Men And A Truck, Richard Kuipers, was delighted to accept both the awards at the awards dinner.

“Business is not just about making money, it’s about making an impact, building relationships and playing a role in the surrounding community,” he said.

“We couldn’t run a business without the people in the community!”

However, the second award caught him by surprise.

“I wasn’t expecting to be up here a second time… I already took my tie off,” he announced to more than 200 attendees.

“Ladies and gentlemen if he wins a third award, he’ll take his shirt off!” said the event’s MC Richard Glover - a presenter on ABC’s Radio National.

Thankfully Two Men And A Truck didn’t win a third award!

Two Men And A Truck became a member of the Better Business Partnership in July, and many of its values reflect Two Men And A Truck’s Moving Together program – a corporate responsibility and community outreach initiative.

The BBP aims to save businesses money, improve their environmental performance and encourage businesses to support their local community and switch to sustainable options.

The 2013 Better Business Of The Year was awarded to Eastern Road Quality Meats in Turramurra.

Owner Allan Waldon said “the more you do for your community, the more loyalty you get for your business.”

“It doesn’t hurt to give a few things back. At the end of the day, them [sic] people come and support you.”
