Beauty Queen Top of the Picks:
Miss International New Zealand beauty queen proves her role is not all glitz and glamour by getting muddy during the first pick of new season strawberries at Passionberry farms before she jets off to compete at the international competition later this month.
Twenty five year old Rachel Harradence is set to represent NZ at the upcoming Miss International contest in Tokyo at the end of this month having won the runner up title of Miss International NZ at the recent Miss World NZ competition.
“I am so excited to represent New Zealand at this international event. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience different cultures and to share ideas of how we can make a difference in the world”, says Harradence who braved the chilly weather and mud to pick her favourite first strawberries of the season.
“I absolutely love fresh strawberries from the farm and had to get my fix before flying out - Passionberry has the best and there’s nothing quite like picking them yourself, even if it does mean getting a bit muddy in the process!”
Beauty ambassadors representing more than 65 countries are set to gather in Tokyo to compete for the title of Miss International 2014. The competition strives to promote international friendship and mutual understanding between contestants and their respective nations, as well as raise funds for under privileged children around the world.
“It has taken months of planning and fundraising to prepare for this international event but I am looking forward to forging new relationships with some of the most influential and intelligent women of the world”, says Harradence who is sponsored by Passionberry Strawberry Cocktail and works fulltime at Pascoes the Jellewers head office in Auckland.
Manila model Bea Rose won the international title last year and New Zealand’s only contestant to ever win the Miss International contest was Jane Hansen in 1971.
