Konica Minolta Wins Three 2015 BLI PRO Awards
Konica Minolta Wins Three 2015 BLI PRO Awards, Is Named a Winner for Third Year Running
Konica Minolta has won three BLI (Buyers Laboratory LLC) 2015 BLI PRO Awards, marking the third consecutive year in which Konica Minolta has received awards from BLI, the world's leading independent provider of analytical information and services to the document imaging industry.
Konica Minolta’s bizhub PRESS 1052 won Outstanding Monochrome Light-to Mid-Volume Production Device thanks to its impressive performance, five-star rating for productivity and excellent media-handling capabilities.
Of the device, BLI’s Director of Laboratory Testing Pete Emory said, “It offers an excellent blend of everything that’s most important in monochrome production environments. Not only is it highly productive, it offers excellent media-handling capabilities and its input and output paper capacities are so high that it can run for about eight hours before requiring operator attention.”
Konica Minolta’s bizhub PRESS C1100 also proved a strong competitor and was awarded a 2015 BLI PRO award as Outstanding Colour Mid-Volume Production Device.
One of the best production devices in this class BLI has evaluated to date, the bizhub PRESS C1100 did not score below a four-and-a-half stars in any of the tested categories.
“Usually we see models that excel in one or two areas, but fall short in others,” said David Sweetnam, head of BLI’s European Research and Lab Services. “The bizhub PRESS C1100’s colour consistency is among the best BLI has seen, being one of just a few production units to earn BLI’s highest five-star rating for colour consistency.”
Impressive paper handling, strong productivity and a wide range of adjustments to help achieve optimum image quality earned the tandem-engine Konica Minolta’s bizhub PRESS 2250P BLI’s 2015 PRO award for Outstanding Monochrome Mid-to-High Volume Production Device.
Other strengths of the bizhub PRESS 2250P that contributed to the PRO award include extensive job-building and advanced page-level programming capabilities; highly featured drag-and-drop hot folder functionality; an easy-to-use media catalogue; and Konica Minolta’s Tone Curve utility, which provides users with professional-grade custom grey programming capability.
“The BLI results have clearly shown that Konica Minolta identifies with our customers and has developed our Production Print Systems to bring distinguished value to print production,” said Warwick Beban, CEO of Konica Minolta in New Zealand. “To be awarded three Production Print Awards for 2015 indicates that Konica Minolta’s research and development is always striving to reach higher levels of productivity and reliability with exceptional value for the benefit of print suppliers in the market.”
About BLI’s PRO
Awards
In the highly complex world of production
print, choosing the most suitable device is a tough task for
buyers. Buyers Laboratory LLC (BLI), the world's leading
independent provider of analytical information and services
to the document imaging industry, makes the task easier with
its unmatched expertise in evaluating devices, gained over
the past 50-plus years. The PRO awards go to the best
performers in BLI’s production field tests, which shed
light on how these devices perform in the real world, which
is often a far cry from what a brochure might lead people to
believe.
BLI’s field evaluations entail three full days of intensive testing during which tens of thousands of impressions are printed—from 30,000 to more than 150,000 depending on the model. Devices are tested for productivity with coated and uncoated media in a wide range of weights and sizes and using various finishing options to simulate a wide variety of job scenarios. BLI technicians also evaluate image quality, including production of halftones, text and fine lines; density levels and variations; and colour drift over the course of a 1,000-page print run. In addition, BLI assesses media-handling capabilities and ease of use for setting up, submitting and managing jobs; loading paper and toner; switching out operator-replaceable components; and removing misfeeds.
Having generated tens of millions of impressions on production devices from the leading vendors over several years—both in the lab and in the field—BLI’s production tests reveal what separates the best from the rest. It is the best that BLI recognizes with its annual PRO Awards.
