Intelligent safety systems now an aftermarket option

Advances in safety systems have seen intelligent technologies added to new vehicles - such as Lane Departure Warning and Front Collision Warning.

A new system being launched by the market leaders in New Zealand automotive aftermarket products - Retro Vehicle Enhancements - allows such technology to be added to all vehicles.

Such systems have been seen as such an improvement to safety that leading motoring bodies have been critical of vehicles launched without them.

And it comes with security advantages.

IDAS - or Intelligent Driver Assist System - is designed to enhance vehicle systems and security.

Ever wondered what was happening around your vehicle when you weren’t there? Now there is a device that monitors the front and rear of your vehicle recording incidents and activity that maybe of interest to you, your insurance company or maybe even the Police.

This also offers instant recording at the push of a button when driving, capturing that road incident and the 15 seconds before and after your activation of the recording.

The system includes:
• Front Collision Warning prompts driver to use safe distances at any speed.
• Lane Departure Warning constantly reading your position in the lane in which you are travelling.
• Beep and Watch: focuses you when traffic ahead has started to move off.
• Digital Video Recorder constantly covers outward views, front and rear, in motion or when parked and unattended.
• Instant recording function stores 15 seconds either side of an incident the driver wants to record.

RVE Group managing director Dave Stanners says the system brings real advantages to a number of different vehicle vendors and operators.

“For fleet and rental operators this is a great way to improve the safety and security of vehicles,” Stanners explains.

“The warning system also assists in improving the standard of vehicle operation, and assists with driver attention.”

IDAS is installed and set up to suit your vehicle and your preferred driving style.

This device will reduce risk for company cars, fleet and pool cars and also rental or hire vehicles where there is frequent changes of drivers.
