Labels and Large Format Get Boost in Pride In
Print Awards
Labels and large-format display work – two of the areas of the print industry which are markedly “on the up” – have been rewarded with special recognition in the 2015 Pride In Print Awards.
The rise of digital print has also been recognised in a new sub-category under Specialty Products.
In total four categories have been updated for 2015.
Under Category 1 (Publications), booklets and brochures have their own section. Under Category 3 (Packaging), a new sub-category has been created for “retail and display packaging”, particularly aimed at point-of-sale supermarket material.
Under Category 4 (Labels), the entries have now been separated into wine, food and beverage, and “other”. Under Category 7 (Specialty Products) a new sub-category has been created for “other”, which includes printing on to materials such as glass, wood and tiles.
Awards Manager Sue Archibald said the changes reflected the ability of the Pride In Print Awards to evolve with industry trends.
“The changes capture what is happening in the real world. Print buyers are putting more effort into areas such as labels for wine, food and beverage.
“Retailers are spending more time trying to make an impact with customers with point-of-sale displays, using large-format printing.
“Designers are thinking outside the square with how they can apply digital print to new materials, so that personalised solutions can be found for flooring or wall coverings.
“We are moving to embrace those changes. Pride In Print is interwoven with the culture of New Zealand’s print industry. As it grows and changes, so do the Awards.
“We always stay current and relevant.”
Now is the time to get entries together for this year’s Awards. Regular entries close on January 31. Close off for late entries is February 28.
Awards Night is May 1 at the TSB Arena in Wellington.
