Thrifty Car Rental launch new travel app with a focus on ease and safety

Thrifty Car Rental have responded to recent concerns regarding tourist driving by partnering with GeoZone to launch a new mobile app that aims to make tripping around New Zealand easier and safer.

The app features a road safety video that simply explains the ins and outs of driving on New Zealand roads for international visitors.

The platform also helps the user plan their route pointing out road warnings, petrol stations, toilets and other useful amenities.

Thrifty’s General Manager Emma Gardiner says the app should take a lot of the stress out of travelling around the country.

“New Zealand roads can be challenging for those not familiar with them and this app will make it a lot easier. Kiwis will also find it handy,” says Ms Gardiner.

The app features:
• A short road safety video, available in English, French, Chinese and German.
• Up-to-date road warnings
• Quick links to near-by information centres, grocery stores, public toilets, rubbish & recycling bins and petrol stations
• Suggestions of things to do and where to stay
• Links to AA for 24/7 Roadside Assistance

AA spokesperson Simon Douglas said the safety video was a great initiative to help visiting drivers stay safe on our roads.

"The video helps show tourists the key things they need to know to drive safely in New Zealand.

“The AA is very pleased to see Thrifty taking action to give tourist drivers easy to understand information. Better preparing visiting drivers will make our roads safer for everyone,” says Mr Douglas.
