Wanted: 600 keen beer fans to jump start Manuka Magic Ale – an historical development in beer brewing

Hawke’s Bay brewer Tony Dapson, invented a process for brewing ale using Manuka, and is looking for backers to support the brewing of this unique Kiwi ale by purchasing ‘Future Vouchers’.

The ‘Help Make Kiwi Ale History’ campaign has gone live today on Indiegogo.com (see link below) as Mr Dapson plans to raise enough money for the first round of orders of Manuka Magic – It's a Beauty Unique Kiwi Ale to be fulfilled. With the craftbeer market growing as more discerning drinkers enter this market, and with the recent success of Yeastie Boys, who raised over $500,000 in record time, Manuka Magic is in good company.

The first batch of Ales will be brewed at Hawke’s Bay’s local micro-brewery, Roosters Brew House, who are well known for their natural, no added sugar or preservative beers and are one of the stops on the Bay and Country Pub Tours.

There is demand across the globe for New Zealand beer, and what makes one aspect of Mr Dapson’s brew unique is, rather than brewing with traditional hops his natural ale’s use the Manuka plant. There is evidence, from some fields, which suggests that with the increase in heat due to climate change hops could be hit hard with a loss of quality and yield. Manuka however, thrives in harsh, warmer growing conditions. Drinkers who have tried Manuka Magic say it’s an enjoyable and refreshing ale, and so it is an alternative flavouroid to hops in beer.

This is a never been seen before innovation. Mr Dapson was awarded Letters Patent in New Zealand and Australia for his invention. It is an historical development in beer brewing history, and could be the answer to gradual loss of beer production.

Mr Dapson is looking for 600 keen beer fans, over 20 years of age, to get Manuka Magic flowing out the brewery door. The crowd source campaign aims to raise demand through exclusive ‘Future Orders Vouchers’ that will be redeemed at the successful completion of the campaign.

“It's not a fundraising campaign, or an equity sale in a business, it's an offer to beer drinkers to support the production of this groundbreaking ale and take this unique beer to the market by ordering exclusive Future Vouchers”, says Mr Dapson. “There is an Indemand feature also, which allows for future orders when the campaign finishes, so it is in effect an online brewery.”

Mr Dapson says “What’s in your glass is the culmination of 20 years experimental work, and bringing Manuka Magic to market is the end of the start.

Manuka Magic is Mr Dapson’s first offering of this unique taste sensation, which is a complex explosion of subtle flavours interacting, and reacting with each other, infusing onto your tongue. He says, “Your first sip tells it all. You'll then understand why I've called it magic.”

It's delicious to drink. It's Kiwi as. And yes, it’s another groundbreaking Kiwi innovation.
