FIFA U-20 World Cup a potential game changer for Rothbury

FIFA U-20 World Cup a potential game changer for Rothbury

Auckland, 10 February 2015 – Rothbury Insurance Brokers hopes being named a National Supporter and the Official Insurance Broker for the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2015 will be a game changer for the company.

The FIFA U-20 World Cup is FIFA’s second largest men’s event after the FIFA World Cup itself and the 2015 tournament is expected to be the biggest celebration of global football ever seen in New Zealand.

The tournament will take place over three weeks in June across seven venues – Whangarei, Auckland, Hamilton, New Plymouth, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. More than half a million tickets are expected to be sold.

Rothbury Managing Director Roger Abel is excited by FIFA’s appointment of Rothbury as a national supporter and official insurance broker. “With the growing popularity of football in this country and New Zealanders’ love of sport we are sure the FIFA U-20 World Cup will generate a buzz across the country.

“This is the first time Rothbury has taken on a national sponsorship deal. The business has been looking for opportunities to increase our brand awareness and we believe this is a great opportunity to do that.

“FIFA will be promoting this tournament to New Zealand sports fans, as well as football mums and dads getting involved with their kids and the football community. Many of these people are business owners and decision makers of the type that Rothbury manages insurance for – it is a great match of interests.”

FIFA U-20 World Cup CEO, Dave Beeche said he was delighted to have Rothbury on board as a supporter and official broker. “Rothbury is a well established and very highly regarded New Zealand insurance broker and we look forward to working with the company to stage a successful event in 2015.”

As official insurance broker for FIFA U-20 World Cup Rothbury will be responsible for providing a range of insurance products and services which are integral to the success of the event.

The announcement of this partnership with FIFA follows closely on Rothbury winning the Large Broking Company of the Year award at the New Zealand Insurance Industry Awards in November 2014. The awards are run by the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF). Rothbury Insurance Brokers was also named as a finalist in the 2013 and 2014 IBM Kenexa Best Workplaces Survey.
