Video and alarm monitoring facility comes to town

Video and alarm monitoring facility comes to town

A new high-tech video monitoring facility has opened in Lower Hutt with a thousand clients already signed up and keen to keep an eye on what’s going on at home and work when they’re not there.

Red Wolf Security has made a significant investment in a virtually indestructible concrete block bunker, leading edge video monitoring software and equipment, and staff for its new monitoring centre in Downer Street.

Managing Director Tony Patmore says the facility is the only one of its kind in the Wellington region and the second of its grade in the country.

Live video feeds adorn one wall as Red Wolf staff keep an eye on everything from rail yards and production facilities right down to a person’s pride and joy classic or custom car or motorcycle.

At any one time there are multiple live feeds showing, with monitors alerting staff to alarms that have gone off and footage from those video cameras.

Tony says the monitoring facility was completed about six months ago, staff then underwent training and the facility has been operating in a low key manner since then to ensure everything is working as it should be.

“We’re really pleased with how well everything is going now so had an official launch at the end of January which was opened by Sir William Gallagher, a leading figure in the New Zealand security industry.

“You do find some publicly owned monitoring facilities like this around in the Police or in some of the larger council’s but as far as privately owned enterprises this is really up there,” says Tony.

“Interestingly enough we also play a backup role for some of these public organisations – for example a local city council has its own monitoring operation but in an emergency that will switch to us to cover for them.”

We’re an ideal choice for emergency back up because of the solid and secure nature of our facility. The security of our fully self-contained monitoring centre makes unauthorised access nigh on impossible. Tony says the facility is constructed to government design protocols so is built to a very high standard. It’s also manned 24/7 to ensure around the clock surveillance.

Red Wolf sees this monitoring facility as a welcome addition to the other services it offers which include design and installation of CCTV, intercom, access and intruder security systems, and systems maintenance.
