Farrell Group recruits new General Manager
Canterbury
building firm Farrell Group is excited to announce the
recruitment of experienced local executive Simon Doig as its
new General Manager.
Mr Doig has established a track record of growing and developing businesses in senior management roles in the resources sector at Solid Energy and more recently at NZX listed Bathurst Resources and says he’s proud to join one of the country’s fastest growing construction firms.
“Farrell Group has seen incredible growth over the past few years and I am keen to help the company reach its future growth aspirations,” says Mr Doig.
“It will be a new challenge to enter the construction sector, but many of the principles from my years in mining around establishing safe work practices, implementing strong business processes and growing profitability will apply in this new role.”
Mr Doig has a proven business track record, having been a previous runner-up to the New Zealand Young Executive of the Year, and having held a number of local and national board directorships.
Company director Rob Farrell is pleased to have been able to recruit the Christchurch executive.
“We have known Simon for many years and have followed his career with interest,” says Mr Farrell. “This was a wonderful opportunity to join forces and tap into Simon’s business intellect and for him to offer us a fresh look at everything we do in our company.”
Mr Farrell says the appointment will enable him to hand over much of the day-to-day running of the business to Mr Doig so he can move into a company strategy and business development role, planning the long-term future of the business. He will also take on the role of executive chairperson on the company’s newly formed board.
Farrell Group was established by brothers Sean and Rob Farrell in 2011. The Group is trade focused providing sub-contract services in commercial construction and main contract leadership in residential new builds and repairs. The company employs around 200 staff.
