Vidal Estate excels with Chardonnay at Royal Easter Show Wine Awards

Vidal Estate Winemaker Hugh Crichton is continuing to display his Chardonnay expertise by winning two gold medals for his signature varietal, at the iconic Royal Easter Show Wine Awards this year.

This gold medal triumph follows what has been an incredible 12 months for Hugh and the team at Vidal Estate. Their Chardonnays have picked up Champion Wine of Show at prestigious competitions such as Air New Zealand Wine Awards, Bragato Wine Awards and also won the trophy for top New Zealand white wine at Decanter Asia Wine Awards. Last year was also a landmark year with the introduction of a classical new logo and label design -capturing 109 years of heritage, quality and provenance.

“Hawkes Bay produces truly world class Chardonnay, a varietal we love at Vidal Estate and one we focus on” says Hugh Crichton head winemaker of Vidal Estate, one of New Zealand’s oldest wineries. “Recognition at the Royal Easter Show Wine Awards reflects the quality of Chardonnay being produced in Hawkes Bays.”

This is the 62nd Royal Easter Show with 1,222 wines entered into this year’s competition.

The Easter Show Wine Awards 2015 dinner, where the trophies are announced, will be held on the 14th of March.
