Kiwi
law graduate sinks her teeth into Danish app
start-up
For Victoria law grad, Ayla Saroz, becoming a part of an app start-up was not at all how she imagined her working holiday in Denmark. However, shortly after arriving in the cycle capital, Copenhagen, she found herself lured into a whole new world of recipes, apps, and Danish design.
These three concepts might seem completely unrelated, and perhaps they are, unless you know about FooDoo - the new app designed to ‘make all your recipes mobile’. It’s pretty simple: whether it’s your grandma’s old recipes or those from your favourite magazine or blog site, with FooDoo you can collect them all into your own mobile cookbook.
Ayla doesn’t go so far as to label herself a foodie, but like many others, “I love trying out new recipes and being a bit experimental with what I cook,” so venturing into the world of “food-doers” with the FooDoo team appealed to her right off the bat.
“As Copenhagen sometimes feels worlds away from home, it seemed only natural to get on board with something as far-fetched as a recipe app while I’m here!” Ayla confesses. She saw it as a great chance for her to combine her inherent interest in food while exploring a totally different field, and believe it or not, she says, “I’ve found that the skills from my law degree also come in handy here almost every day!”
FooDoo is for those who are after a new way of collecting, using, and sharing recipes, all from one intuitive mobile app. The global version of FooDoo is set to launch on February 16th and will be available in New Zealand for both Android and iOS.
The FooDoo team are also on the lookout for NZ recipe bloggers who would like to share their recipes with new readers and app users worldwide. If interested, you can contact the team through their website.
Notes for the
editor:
Ayla grew up in Whangarei, moving to Wellington in 2009 to study at Victoria University. She graduated in 2014 with an LLB(Hons) and a BA majoring in Modern Language Studies.
She moved to Denmark in August 2014, and now works at Cromian as an International Marketing Strategist and NZ Account Manager.
About the App:
FooDoo is a free tool to make all your recipes mobile. We are unique in being completely mobile and completely free, without in-app purchases or paid-for features.
Users can keep recipes taken from all over the web, or from magazines and books and organise them in one place. But unlike other apps, we don’t ‘clip’ online recipes. This means users get easy, instant access to recipes, while the creator of the recipe still receives full credit for their work, and traffic to their site.
Key
features:
-Get meal ideas customised to your
preferences
-Many ways to search, including a
waste-reducing feature to use up ingredients
-Make and
share shopping lists and meal plans
-Create a cookbook
with your favourite recipes- you can add your own recipes
with just a photo
-Go straight from desktop recipes to
mobile shopping lists with partner sites
About the
company:
Cromian was founded in August 2013 by
four entrepreneurial Danes, with a focus on developing
innovative and user-intuitive apps that will make life
easier for all smartphone/tablet
users.
