International design firm MODE today announces the appointment of leading international architect Mark Burke-Damaschke as it’s new Auckland Studio Director.

Marking four years since the practice was established in New Zealand, Mark’s appointment comes at an exciting time for the organisation as they plan to further expand in the market, by consolidating its Parnell Studio to further build a local team of talented professionals.

The firm celebrated its first major project completion in New Zealand earlier this month with the hand over of the new $300 million (NZD) Auckland South Corrections Facility, New Zealand’s first ever Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Prison project, delivered as part of the SecureFuture’s consortium led by the Fletcher Construction Company as contractors and Serco Group as the operator.

MODE has continued to work with the New Zealand Government on a range of other secure environment projects throughout the country, including the redevelopment of Auckland East and the upgrade of Waikeria Men’s Prison, all in addition to other exciting commercial and residential opportunities the group is exploring in the region.

Mark’s solid background in the industry will bring MODE the opportunity to further develop its presence in the New Zealand market and continue to deliver international expertise using MODE’s other international studios and alliances.

Aside from practicing in Europe, the UK and New Zealand, Mark brings a decade of management experience overseeing the architecture division for a large multi-disciplinary engineering and design business where he was involved in the high profile new Christchurch Justice and Emergency Services Precinct.

“I relish the chance to accept new challenges and to create and grow new opportunity; to build MODE’s reputation in New Zealand to match what it has in Australia.

“I am looking forward to help clients deliver buildings and projects that match their vision and to build long lasting and sustainable services as well as delivering a positive impact on the built environment in Auckland and broader New Zealand,” Burke-Damaschke said.

MODE recently secured a new studio in the thriving Parnell neighbourhood towards the end of 2014, marking a significant commitment to the future of their business in the New Zealand market, where Mark will be based.

“We’re thrilled to have Mark joining us as our new Auckland Studio Director. This is an exciting time for our practice in New Zealand as we continue to bring our capabilities to the local market, particularly in the law and order sector where we have delivered some internationally game-changing work for the country and continue to build strong relationships in this region,” said Wayne Jackson, MODE’s New Zealand Principal.

“Mark will help secure our practice’s position in what can be a highly competitive market, but ensuring we continue to deliver exceptional project outcomes for our clients through strong relationships will be a testament to the MODE brand in New Zealand, something we are all excitedly committed to”.

MODE is one of New Zealand’s newest and fastest growing design firms, employing more than 100 talented professionals across more than nine studios in the Asia-Pacific. They offer a range of specialist design and management solutions to projects in the wellness, lifestyle, community, justice and infrastructure sectors.
