DIMENSION DATA helps Barnardos back up local communities

Wellington, New Zealand, 14 April, 2015 – Dimension Data, the global ICT solutions and services provider, is helping Barnardos continue its charitable mission to offer early childhood education and social services to more than 65 communities in New Zealand.

Quality data management is critical for charitable organisations, not least giving valuable insight into the donor base. When Barnardos experienced an IT infrastructure failure and lost elements of their data backup regime in late 2014, Dimension Data stepped in and solved the problem.

Barnardos CEO, Jeff Sanders said “Dimension Data really came through for us during a challenging time for our organisation. They helped us bring critical applications and services online after a major outage lasting two weeks, and continue to work with us to make sure the solution performs to its potential.”

Dimension Data provided Barnardos with a data domain backup device, advice on maintaining the device and ongoing support. The device came at no cost to Barnardos, saving the organisation $15,000.

The solution reduces on-going operational costs by storing data more efficiently, therefore cutting expensive capacity requirements. The new solution also gives Barnardos the ability to restore backup data faster.

Jo Healey, CEO of Dimension Data New Zealand, says, “It’s a real privilege to work with a charitable organisation that does so much for New Zealand families. We hope to help Barnardos focus on providing value to Kiwi communities by making sure they have access to up-to-date data without the hassle of ongoing IT maintenance.”

“It was also great to be able to provide Barnardos with a backup device at no cost by leveraging our global relationship with the technology supplier.”

Dimension Data looks forward to its ongoing partnership with Barnardos.
