Global Mode is here to stay
Global Mode is here to stay! Bypass Tells Big Media Gang: Stop being vague!
“Late in the day, while everyone was leaving work for the Easter holidays, we read on a news site that the big media gang was looking to shut down Global Mode. We found out from the press they had an issue before the big media gang lawyers had even contacted Bypass,” said Matthew Jackson of BNSL.
BNSL has today replied to a letter sent by Buddle Findlay on behalf of Sky, TVNZ, Media Works and Lightbox demanding the shutdown of the Global Mode® service.
BNSL has been providing Global Mode for two years. During this time, none of the big media gang has contacted us to express their concerns despite efforts to engage with TVNZ and Spark (Lightbox’s parent company.) The BNSL office is less than block away from Spark and TVNZ.
“It's not on, the big media gang is bullying us into submission using their expensive lawyers with vague accusations of breaking the law,” said Patrick Jordan-Smith of BNSL.
“We have no plans to shut down but we also can’t afford a prolonged legal battle. We’re a small innovative startup and have just started exploring export markets where there has been overwhelming interest from potential customers. We want to help grow NZ Inc.”
BNSL has said that three customers have ceased offering Global Mode® as a result of these threats causing a direct loss to the business and reducing consumer choice.
