New Zealand Wool Services International Limited’s General Manager, Mr John Dawson reports that despite a stronger New Zealand dollar this week and a varied price range in some sectors, the market was generally strong overall.
The weighted indicator for the main trading currencies lifted 0.96 percent compared to the last sale on 16th April.
Of the 5,800 bales on offer 91 percent sold.
Mr Dawson reports that Fine Crossbred Fleece and shears ranged from 1 percent cheaper to 1 percent dearer.
Coarse Crossbred full fleece good and average style were 1 percent cheaper to 2 percent dearer with poor style 1 to 3 percent cheaper.
Longer coarse shears were 1 to 2 percent cheaper with 2 to 4 inches 2 percent dearer and 2 to 3 inch 2 percent cheaper.
Fine First Lambs were firm to 2 percent cheaper with longer coarse lambs firm to 1 percent dearer.
Long Oddments remained firm with short oddments firm to 2 percent easier.
Limited competition with China, Australasia principals, supported by Europe, India and the Middle East.
Next sale on 23rd April comprises approximately 8,850 bales from the South Island.
