Holcim Cement won both the Greymouth Star Super Nova Award and the Duncan Cotterill Enterprise 30+ Award. The judges commented the company runs an excellent operation in Westport and has a real commitment to the community and environment.

DWC Chief Executive Joseph Thomas congratulated Holcim Cement. “Winning the supreme award is recognition of Holcim’s contribution to the Buller region. The company will be a great loss to the West Coast when it eventually closes. These awards are a great celebration of West Coast business and all the winners and finalists should be proud of their achievements,” he says.

DWC Chairman John Sturgeon says he is delighted that West Coast businesses continue to support the awards in such great numbers. “Congratulations to all the winners. The competition for these awards gives businesses an opportunity to stretch beyond their comfort zone. It is just like in the sporting world, if you don’t push yourself you are not going to make it to the top, and will never know how good you could be”. “The awards ceremony is one of the Coast’s most glitzy nights and people who attend have a great time. I would like to thank the sponsors for their generosity, enthusiasm and interest and I also thank the DWC staff, and in particular Helen Wilson, for all the work they put into organising the event,” says Mr Sturgeon.
