TCF supports land access changes to streamline UFB rollout

TCF supports land access changes to streamline UFB rollout

The Telecommunications Forum (TCF) welcomes the proposals by the Minister of Communications, Hon Amy Adams, intended to facilitate the roll-out of UFB in New Zealand.

“A lot of New Zealanders are asking for UFB to be connected to their homes, apartments or businesses, but can’t get it. Simply because another person who owns a nearby property cannot be contacted or hasn’t responded to a request for the fibre cable to be laid”, says Geoff Thorn, CEO of the TCF. “Often the properties involved are down rights of way or involve shared driveways”.

“The proposals will make it easier and faster to connect New Zealanders to UFB. The benefits of having access to UFB should be available to all consumers, and these proposals will help make this happen.

The TCF looks forward to working with the Government to further develop the proposed changes.
