Encouraging breast checks earns Gold Lion at Cannes

A simple revolution in encouraging breast checks earns Gold Lion at Cannes

June 29, 2015

NZ skincare brand, Skinfood, is proud to announce that the ‘Breast Cream’ project, a simple revolution in encouraging women to check their breasts for signs of cancer, has been awarded a Gold Lion at the prestigious Cannes Festival of Creativity. The award joins a growing list of local and international advertising accolades for the campaign, which is quickly receiving international recognition.

Breast Cream was created in partnership with the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation and advertising agency Colenso BBDO, who worked with NZ skincare brand Skinfood to produce the product. The project was launched as a small-scale pilot in New Zealand during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and is already starting to change the conversation around breast cancer.

Breast Cream is a simple moisturiser that makes checking your breasts a part of your regular beauty routine. Simply applying it regularly helps you look and feel for any unusual changes that could be signs of cancer, so you can tell your doctor straight away. The World Health Organisation estimates that 40,000 lives could be saved each year through the early detection and treatment of breast cancer. Despite comprehensive mammogram screening programs, around half of all breast cancers are discovered through symptoms, so it’s vital that all women from the age of 20 develop a routine of regular checking.

Inside the pack is a leaflet with comprehensive information on the signs and symptoms to look for, and $2 from every pack sold goes to the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation to fund research, education and support.

In response to the growing international awareness and interest in the project, Skinfood are investigating partnerships with distributors and breast cancer charities in international markets such as North America, the UK, Europe and Asia.
