One Day, Five Couples, Ten “I do’s”

Save the date!! In a first for Hawkes Bay, Sunday November 29th will see not just one but five couples experiencing the wedding of their dreams without the nightmare of the bill by sharing the cost.

One White Day is the brainchild of wedding experts; celebrant Nichola Nicholson, stylist and florist Toni McGregor and photographer Natalie McNally. The talented team are dedicated to providing top-end intimate weddings at a cost most will be able to afford.

“One White Day is designed for up to five couples to get married on the same day at different times therefore spreading the cost throughout each ‘mini’ wedding. It’s another way of looking at the economics of it by doing something unique and memorable. It’s never been done before in Hawkes Bay and by sharing the cost, couples can concentrate on love and the romantic act of getting married which is the most important thing” says co-owner Nichola Nicholson.

Taking the hassle out of planning your big day has never been easier with a beautifully styled intimate ceremony incorporating flowers, music, a creative photo session and the stunning venue of Church Road Winery all included in the cost. Stylist Toni McGregor says Church Road is one of Hawkes Bay’s leading wedding venues, and the perfect place to stage the very first One White Day.

“Having worked in the wedding industry for 15 years I know how important the venue is. Church Road was at the top of our list as somewhere that would really capture the hearts of our couples taking part in this unique wedding experience. We’re thrilled they are as excited about making wedding history in Hawkes Bay as much as we are”.

After many years of traditional weddings, the One White Day trio saw a gap in the market for something a little different in Hawkes Bay which is one of New Zealand’s leading wedding destinations. Renowned photographer Natalie McNally explains.

“We were starting to see trends in overseas weddings that really inspired us professionally and creatively. The concept of sharing the cost of your wedding day with other couples is huge in Australia and the U.S and we knew Hawkes Bay would embrace it too. It’s proven to be really popular with all ages and couples who don’t want the stress, cost or feel of a cookie cutter wedding”.

Whilst you may be sharing the day of your wedding with other couples the women behind One White Day realise the importance of making sure each wedding is special and unique for the people involved.

“We’ve scheduled the day to make sure that couples that are celebrating their love through One White Day have enough time for their ceremony and wedding experience. They won’t see any of the other weddings taking place that day and can customise their special day with added extras. We’re well connected in the industry and no extra request will be too big or small” says Nichola.

For the business itself, November 29th is just the first date of many One White Day’s throughout the upcoming wedding season with the flexibility to add more if needed.

“All you have to do is book your date and time, turn up looking absolutely gorgeous and don’t forget the rings” laughs Toni.
