Cadbury Carnival Jaffas Are Ready to Roll

Cadbury Carnival Jaffas Are Ready to Roll

Cadbury is sending tens of thousands of Jaffas down Baldwin Street again this year at the infamous Cadbury Jaffa Race; the curtain call of the week-long Dunedin Cadbury Chocolate Carnival running from 11 – 17 July.

Held on the world’s steepest street, Baldwin Street in Dunedin, the infamous race sees up to 75,000 Jaffas hurtle, jump and jostle for position as they race to take out first place on behalf of charities Make-A-Wish, Surf Life Saving New Zealand and Parents Centre. Since 2002 the Cadbury Jaffa Race has raised over $600,000 for local charities.

This year the Jaffa Race coincides with the launch of Cadbury Dairy Milk’s new Jaffa Block – a Special Edition block combining two delicious kiwi favourites, Cadbury Dairy Milk milk chocolate and Cadbury Jaffas. Cadbury Jaffa Block was released on July 6 and is exclusive to New Zealand.

Jack Evison, General Manager Mondelez NZ, says the orange chocolate candy has been a big part of kiwi’s lives.

“The iconic round Kiwi treats have been made in Dunedin since 1931 with an average of 66,000 Jaffas consumed every day by New Zealanders[i]. In 2001 the Jaffa Race was created, allowing us to raise thousands of dollars for charities while also providing the dual benefit of attracting tourism to Dunedin and helping the local economy.”

The Cadbury Jaffa Race kicks off at 11am on Friday 17th July.
