Wine Award number 20 for
Gantleys Restaurant
For the twentieth year in
succession, Gantleys Restaurant at Arthurs Point near
Queenstown has received an Award of Excellence from New York
based Wine Spectator magazine for having “one
of the most outstanding restaurant wine lists in the
world”.
Gantleys was first honoured for its Wine List in 1996 and now boasts the most awarded restaurant wine list in New Zealand. With a major focus on wines from Central Otago as well as extensive listings from all other wine growing regions of New Zealand, Gantleys also lists several iconic labels from Australia and France among its more than 200 selections.
Co-owner and sommelier of Gantleys Restaurant, Brent Rands, said “it’s a huge honour to once again receive recognition from this internationally acclaimed Awards programme. I’m so appreciative that Wine Spectator recognises all the hard work that goes into making a great wine list.”
A total of 3618 restaurants worldwide were recognised in the 2015 Wine Spectator Awards, with just seven of those from New Zealand. Three Queenstown restaurants were included in the list of Award of Excellence winners - Gantleys, The Millhouse Restaurant at Millbrook Resort, and the True South Dining Room at The Rees.
Other New Zealand restaurants to be honoured in the Wine Spectator Awards were Andiamo (Auckland), O’Connell Street Bistro (Auckland), The Farm at Cape Kidnappers (Hawkes Bay), and Pescatore (Christchurch).
