Seminars on attracting investment partners for businesses

Local businesses in the Western Pacific islands have an opportunity to gain valuable tips from experts on attracting joint venture partners and investors in their enterprises.

The New Zealand office of Pacific Islands Trade and Invest (PT&I) along with local facilitating partners are inviting entrepreneurs, investment promoting agencies and Government investment agents to a series of PT&I Investment Workshops. The workshops are being held between August 18 and 27 in Palau, Chuuk, Pohnpei and Majuro.

The main objective of the PT&I Investment Workshops is to help investment-ready local businesspeople and investment promotion agencies as well as other government investment officers to prepare professional investment profiles capable of attracting potential investors for joint venture business and/or equity participation. The workshops will be conducted by resourcepersons with wide experience in economic development in the Pacific Islands region.

Michael Greenslade, PT&I (NZ) Trade Commissioner said, “This is a very exciting initiative for our team and we are looking at using the Investment Workshops to build stronger relationships with our economic development partners in Micronesia and their private sector members. We would like to build on the successful internship programme that we started with the Marshall Islands last year.”

Topics discussed at the workshops will include industry best practices and requirements for internal investment policies and framework, the types of due diligences for investment propositions including strategic, finacial, risk and legal factors from a potential investor’s perspective. This is also an excellent opportunity to profile the investment opportunities in the island nations and territories to increase foreign direct investments.
