Bay of Plenty Central Plateau Region’s Finest Homes Announce

Bay of Plenty Central Plateau Region’s Finest Homes Announced

A new build in Mount Maunganui and a renovation in Tauranga have been revealed as this year’s top Bay of Plenty homes, winning Supreme Awards in the Bay of Plenty Central Plateau Registered Master Builders 2015 House of the Year.

Shaw Builders took out seven regional awards with their winning home, including a Gold Award and category win for the Westpac New Homes over $2 million, as well as the Craftsmanship Award and Bay of Plenty Central Plateau Registered Master Builders Supreme Award for the 2015 House of the Year.

The company also took home the Heart of the Home Kitchen Award, Plumbing World Bathroom Excellence Award and Gerrand Floorings Interior Style and Design Award.

Gudsell Designer Homes was awarded the Supreme Award for Bay of Plenty Central Plateau Registered Master Builders 2015 Renovation of the Year, as well as a Gold Award and category win for the Mitre 10 Renovation Award $250,000 - $500,000.

The judges praised Gudsell Designer Homes for providing design solutions which bring a traditional building into the current era.

“This renovation saw the living and kitchen open up through the use of a large diving cavity slider. The attention to detail inside and out and high quality installations were outstanding,” they said.

“The use of a popular weatherboard cladding, meticulous painting and commendable workmanship made this a worthy Supreme Award winning renovation.”

The judges called the Shaw Builders’ project a beautifully built home with a faultlessly executed design.

“This is a substantial and sophisticated home that has been crafted with a lot of care and attention to detail. The design makes the most of the ocean views and the sun, seamlessly integrating outdoor living spaces while achieving privacy from adjacent properties.

“Concrete, steel, masonry block, precast timber, aluminium and glass all blend harmoniously to form this impressive home.”

The results were revealed at a gala dinner on Saturday 15 August at the Wairakei Resort in Taupo. The winning builders were recognised by members of the Bay of Plenty Central Plateau Registered Master Builders Association and members of the local building industry.

There were 14 Gold Award winners from the Bay of Plenty Central Plateau region which will now be eligible, alongside Gold Award winners from up and down the country, to become National Gold Reserve finalists, which will be announced in September.

National category winners and the Registered Master Builders Supreme Awards for Renovation of the Year and House of the Year will be announced at a gala dinner in Auckland in November.

The Awards are made possible through the support of PlaceMakers, Master Build Services, James Hardie, GIB, Nulook, SafetyMate, Carters, ITM, Plumbing World, Resene, Westpac and Mitre 10.
