Gimblett Gravels Wine Growing District
Gimblett Gravels Wine Growing District® named one of world’s finest red wine regions
Gimbett Gravels® reds are “the wave of the future for the world’s great red wines” according to leading US wine commentator Dan Berger.
Following a tasting of 2013 Gimbett Gravels® wines in the US last week he applauded the District, saying, “To make utterly world-class red wines in a region three decades after you first joined a game already in progress is an astounding achievement-one that should be widely heralded.”
Describing the wines as “food friendly…with complex aromas, varietal precision, and huge cellar potential”, he added that the “sensational Syrahs from the area overwhelmed the tasters with their excitement and varietal integrity.”
Chairman of the Gimblett Gravels Winegrowers Association Gordon Russell commented “The 2013 vintage has exceeded our expectations. The near perfect growing season, combined with our very special soils have created red wines which are receiving acclaim around the world. These accolades are a tribute to the commitment, dedication and vision of our members to create the world’s greatest red wines.
The 2013 vintage wines are hitting retail shelves but they will sell through very quickly, so we recommend purchasing them while you can. They have the potential to reward for the next 10 years and far beyond.”
