Innovations & Bargains at Hawke’s Bay Home & Garden Show
A prefabricated solar-powered house, believed to be the first in New Zealand, will be one of many new innovations that visitors can find out about at the Hawke’s Bay Home & Garden Show. For three days, from Friday 30 October, the event will bring the future in home improvement to McLean Park as over 180 exhibitors showcase emerging trends, cutting-edge innovations and industry expertise.
Kitchens, flooring, landscaping, beds, aluminium joinery, indoor and outdoor furniture, solar solutions, spas will be on display, along with everything else essential for enhancing the home. Even better, visitors will be treated to show-only bargains that they won’t find anywhere else.
Show Director, Daniel Joll, says “One lucky visitor will win a king-sized Opulence bed from Bay Beds, valued at $5,695. It includes a base and hypoallergenic, pocket spring mattress, which is made from natural latex comfort layers, covered in bamboo quilt and 100% NZ wool. As an added bonus, there will also be a $250 voucher from Resene. To enter, show-goers just supply their details at the show entrance. The winner will be drawn when the show closes on Sunday evening and will be announced on More FM the following day.”
Some stand-out show-only specials include a prize draw at the NOW site, where they will give away a $1,100 package of free, unlimited, ultra-fast broadband with a phone line for a year to the winning household. Danske Mobler Hawke’s Bay will be running a deal where shoppers can save $1,000 on their ‘Mode’ outdoor setting; while visitors who register at the Cost Effective Lighting stand will go into the draw to win a home package comprising free kitchen, living room and dining room LED down light supply and installation, typically valued at up to $2000.
Jon Farquharson from Hawke’s Bay Solar says, “We will have information on our prefabricated solar-powered house, which we believe is the first of its kind in the country. It’s a spacious, three-bedroom home with a 6KW Off the Grid Solar power system. The prefabricated kitset includes a full set of plans and specifications, and is perfect as a home, bach, studio, rental, office or staff accommodation. We will also have a fantastic show-only special on solar power systems, saving visitors a whopping $1,000. So head along to our stand and charge your phone for free at our solar kiosk!”
The outdoor living section will packed with numerous landscaping products, plants, outdoor furniture, barbeques and outdoor essentials, but one clever product that’s sure to please is the ‘Instant Garden’ planter box by HandyStacks. These are pre-filled with premium, BioRich Supersoil, are ready to plant and will be delivered locally and positioned (where possible) for free, with all-terrain forklifts.
There will be fun for the whole family with the Resene Paint-a-Pot and Paint-a-Gnome Challenge on Saturday and Sunday from 10 am until 2 pm. Onsite lathing demonstrations will be given by the Hawke’s Bay Woodturners Guild, who will also have work for sale. An alfresco dining area will keep visitors refreshed and refuelled, and there’s also free parking.
