Vizbot shares the first IBM People’s Choice Award in New Zealand
Vizbot are delighted to have been named joint People’s Choice winners at IBM SmartCamp AKL 2015, with a smart application tool to make building consents cost less for applicants and councils.
Early in September, Vizbot was chosen as a finalist to compete against four other leading Startups from across New Zealand, in the first ever IBM SmartCamp held in New Zealand.
Their application impressed the IBM SmartCamp organisers, and considering Vizbot had only been operating for five months this was a big surprise. Vizbot shares the People’s Choice title with Eight Wire, a fellow Wellington Startup.
Vizbot has been part of many firsts. The team came together in the first ever government-tech accelerator "R9 Accelerator", an initiative headed by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) in partnership with Creative HQ. This initiative was the second of its kind in the world after a similar initiative in the States.
The Vizbot team was given the tough task of finding a solution to simplifying building licences and permits, in only three months. The Vizbot team interviewed and worked in close collaboration with over 50 architects, property developers and present a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) at Demo Day.
Over 150 public and private sector guests attended Demo Day to witness the birth of Vizbot Solutions Limited. Vizbot is the first but will not be the last Startup to develop solutions for New Zealand Government.
