Organic Vineyards at Wine & Food Festival

Organic Vineyards at the “Christchurch | South Island Wine & Food Festival 2015”

The 2015 Wine and Food Festival held in Hagley Park, Christchurch Dec 5th 2015; will be showcasing some of the best organic wines from the South Island.

This year features an unprecedented volume of organic producers at the awards with five certified Organic or Biodynamic vineyards in attendance, and many more either working towards certification or experimenting with organic growing.

In attendance are gold medal winning vineyards Giesen (2014 Organic Sauvignon Blanc), and Terrace Edge (2014 Pinot Gris, 2014 Rose), along with Greystone, Pyramid Valley and Black Estate- who have just released the first of their organic certified wine, following the completion of their BioGro accreditation.

The high volume of organic vineyards in attendance is a credit to the ongoing trend in conversion of vineyards to organic status in the region. The NZ Organic Wine Awards believes that organic growing practices can produce a better quality wine as a finished product, whilst also looking after the land from which the vines are grown, ensuring a healthy and sustainable growing environment for future vintages.

We look forward to seeing, and chatting with vineyards at this years festival. Tickets are available on-line at www.winefestival.co.nz
