Wool Prices Steady

WOOL PRICES STEADY

New Zealand Wool Services International Limited’s C.E.O, Mr John Dawson reports that the North Island offering of 5,400 bales received strong support with 99 percent selling.

A similar currency range to last weeks’ sale on 5th November saw the weighted indicator down only 0.16 percent playing a minor role, with awakening Chinese interests and steady enquiry from other sectors underpinning the market.

Mr Dawson advises that Fine Crossbred Full Fleece and Second Shears were firm to 4.5 percent dearer, with the shorter types supported the most.

Coarse Full Fleece were also firm with shears 1 to 2.5 percent stronger.
Oddments were generally firm.

Strong competition with China, Australasia and Western Europe principals, supported by India, Middle East and the United Kingdom.

Next sale on 19th November comprises approximately 5,700 bales from the South Island.
