Waipareira building to the future

Waipareira building to the future

Waipareira Chair Ray Hall says the organisation is in a great financial position, as highlighted in the release of the 2014-2015 Annual Report.

Even with major costs for the establishment of Te Pou Matakana, funding a Whanau Ora Conference and the purchase of an outstanding property at Armour Bay, near Huia, the Waipareira books were in a very healthy state, and Waipareira remains debt free.

All entities managed by the Waipareira back office were also given unmodified audit opinions from KPMG, and total group operating surplus was $1.27 million, compared to $469,000 the previous year.

“The board will continue to invest in strategic partnerships to advance future initiatives, positioning us well to deliver sustainable growth in 2016/2017 and beyond,” Ray said.

He said milestones within the 2014-2015 financial year included:

• The launch of Wai-Research unit

• Establishment of Social Value Aotearoa – as part of the Social Value International network

• Signed Memorandum of Understandings with the Alliance Health Network, ACC, and Callaghan Innovation – through our IT team at Whānau Tahi

• Board-to-Board meetings with the Waitemata District Health Board

• And the birth of Te Pou Matakana, the North Island Whānau Ora Commissioning Agency.

“They are the events and highlights that make the headlines and I acknowledge the work that has gone into making these happen,” Ray said.
