High Performer Joins InterContinental Wellington

High Performer Joins InterContinental Wellington

InterContinental Wellington is adding to its high performance team this week in the shape of a luxurious 2015 Bentley Flying Spur car, to be used for guest transfers and touring.

Taking delivery of the extreme luxury, hand-assembled car, general manager Scott Hamilton said naturally the team was very excited to have such a highly desirable vehicle joining the hotel’s already luxurious transfer options, which includes a BMW 7 Series sedan.

“The Flying Spur is a truly beautiful car to experience, and represents what we aim to deliver to every guest during their time with us: unparalleled comfort, care and style,” Hamilton said.

“The vehicle also represents the hand-crafted style our guests expect of us, particularly after our Presidential Suite was named the Leading Hotel Suite in New Zealand in the World Travel Awards last month.”

The Flying Spur’s features include an integrated wi-fi hotspot and a touchscreen infotainment system with 10” LCD screens and two DVD players with USB ports, HDMI connections and SD card slots. Eleven separate Balance Mode Radiator speakers combine with surround-sound logic to deliver audiophile sound wherever you sit in the car.

The 8-speed quick-shift automatic transmission gives greater responsiveness particularly at lower speeds, while the very latest torque technology results in more stability despite the power available.

Head concierge, Jason Eade (who was named joint Australasia’s Top Concierge in the international Hotel Management Awards earlier this year) expects the Flying Spur to be popular for luxury transfers, chauffeur-driven day-trips into the Martinborough wine region, brides and grooms transport, touring around the capital, or for collecting that important client before entertaining in Club InterContinental Lounge.

Eade commented that the vehicle is a beautiful combination of high performance and luxury, but that he didn’t expect his team to demonstrate the car to its fullest – it’s capable of going from 0-100km in 5.2 seconds and speeds of more than 300km per hour!
