e-Spatial’s Matti Seikkula awarded Professional of the Year
e-Spatial’s Matti Seikkula awarded Professional of the Year for promoting the benefits of spatial.
Delivering outcomes for the spatial industry above and beyond the ordinary.
WELLINGTON, NZ, Dec 3, 2015 – The second NZ Spatial Excellence Awards were held at Te Papa on 19 November. A joint venture between the spatial profession, businesses and government, the awards seek out and give recognition to the best, the high achievers and the contributors who set the benchmarks that others will follow.
Matti Seikkula, CIO and Enterprise Architect for New Zealand’s leading independent spatial consultancy firm, e-Spatial, received the award for “Professional of the Year’ for his submission ‘Growing the spatial pie’. Over his 26 years in the IT industry, including 19 in spatial, he has been instrumental in contributing to the growth and maturity of the industry. He raises the awareness and benefits of spatial at an enterprise level, thereby widening its take-up and usage within New Zealand organsiations.
Matti consults with a number of enterprise and government agencies on their business requirements and how spatial can help them achieve their objectives. With his unique outside-in perspective, and his knowledge and experience of how IT, business and spatial link together, Matti has the ability to see how to link or enhance an organisation’s current enterprise systems with spatial capability, irrespective of the amount of spatial capability they may currently have. He assesses organisations’ current spatial solutions, performs audits to ensure optimal performance of their investment, and advises on the degree to which the business is using spatial to its capacity and its ability to meet future demands.
Matti has an insatiable desire to keep up with technology trends and their business application. He frequently meets with customers and other Enterprise Architects to demonstrate new innovations, technologies and trends in the spatial arena that may impact on their respective industries. This, along with his 26 years’ experience in IT, allows him to look at the big picture, start recognising patterns and predict what might happen in the future. Matti connects people within and across organisations, speaking their language, unifying the market, and promoting the benefits of spatial. His ability to network and engage at all levels of an organisation continues to increase his sphere of influence and that of the spatial industry.
