Two firsts for Reading

Reading International (NASDAQ: RDI) is enjoying two firsts for its growing cinema segment.

1) It will open its first IMAX screen this week at its Reading Cinemas Valley Plaza cineplex in Bakersfield, premiering with the opening of “Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens”.

2) Additionally, Reading opened its first Reading Cinemas in Auckland, New Zealand, an eight-plex at the newly renovated LynnMall. The multiplex is spread over a third of a hectare of floorspace and features a giant Titan theatre with a 20-metre wide screen and 460 seats which will also boast Dolby Atmos audio technology. Two premium cinemas, with tickets priced at $15, will feature a dine-in option. According to the New Zealand Herald article, below, Reading is looking for additional sites in Auckland to further expand its already #3 market share in New Zealand.
